This is a newer release (2008) from Oregon State University's Agriculture Experiment Station which takes the contorted filbert to the next level.  This hybrid was bred to have red leaves which holds their color long into the season, a contorted habit and complete resistance to eastern filbert blight and we can only say "Job well done".  This will be a very ornamental shrub to eventual small tree with a spreading habit so give it some room.  The old standby contorted filbert,  Harry Lauder's Walking Stick, eventually seemed to outgrow the majority of spaces where it was planted so we would anticipate this to be the same.  In ten years, this can be 6'-8' tall and 5' or more wide and you can extrapolate from there.  Very hardy - to zone 4 and this makes an wonderful container plant.  The plants we are offering are nicely rooted single stem "whips" that unlike the old green contorted filbert, won't have understock suckering up from below the graft union.
