Of the dozens of cultivars of Crocosmia we grow, 'Debutante' is instantly distinguishable from the pack. As neither of us were lucky enough to be debutantes ourselves, we can only speculate that somehow shining brighter than the rest must surely be one of the goals and if so, then this selection is aptly named. The flowers are small but tend to face upwards and open orange but fade rapidly to a soft pink in the interior which is accented by a yellow eye while the exterior retains a deeper orange-red coloring. Pretty unique in our collection anyway. Tidy habit to 30" tall or a bit more and comparatively slower to increase. A fine introduction by Phillipa Browne in 1994.
