This George Davison hybrid from 1904 is the embodiment of the fire Prometheus stole from Zeus and gave to us mere mortals and all along he had been thinking that it was hanging out with Dionysus that was going to be hard on his liver. Yikes! The flowers on this oddly hard to obtain cultivar are indeed fit for the gods. Long petals on very large shapely deep orange flowers which open widely to best show off the red ring in the center. This is a tall grower between three and four feet tall and despite being a centenarian, stills rocks the house.
