Description

Quart Pot
This is a pretty unique species and one is unlikely to confuse it with any other species in the genus as its narrow tubular flowers sets it apart. While perhaps not an impact plant, it is rather lovely as it flowers freely so there is a good show. This is a streambank dweller in South Africa where it must look quite pretty with its flower stems arching out over the water. This is a fast spreader so give it room or contain it. This characteristic is no doubt an adaptation to help anchor it to stream banks. Perfect shape for hummingbirds and gets 28"- -38" tall. Named for George Honington Potts of Scotland who first grew this in cultivation way back in the 1870's.
