Description

One of the gems of the pinnate-leafed Sorbus whose bold characters would not be out of place in the temperate tropical garden.  Big rich green leaves on branches with a large red terminal bud support bunches of white flowers which lead to clusters of large red fruit.  As if that wasn't enough, great red fall color.  This Hootman collection stays much smaller than typical which is perfect for most gardens.  One of our favorite species which was introduced by Ernest Wilson and named for Charles Sprague Sargent who was Director of the Arnold Arboretum that was sponsoring Wilson's collecting trip.
