Description

False Sinningia.  This surprisingly hardy gesneriad  (Gesneriaceae is the same family as african violets) hails from a broad sweep across southwestern China where it grows in shaded moist situations.  This has glossy almost succulent leaves on stems to a foot or so tall with foxglove-like flowers in mid fall which are white and well-flecked inside with red.  This will spread pretty fast by underground stems in a rich moist soil that drains and create a very nice display in a year or two.  Good zone 7 plant with some folks getting away with it in milder zone 6 gardens.
