These are big plants from seed collected near the Chinese border in Vietnam at 2500 meters.  The team had been seeing the vines of this evergreen climber in the Schisandraceae family all day but no sign of the surprisingly large and showy balls of clustered reddish berries.  Finally they came across a mound of the fruiting clusters which had been gathered by the locals as they are edible and some trading occurred in the forest.  This has scented, long-stemmed creamy flowers with up to 25 tepals to 2.5 cm long.  We're paraphrasing Bleddyn Wynn-Jones description which is getting it straight from the source as he led the team.  This is likely not going to appreciate prolonged cold or exposure to freezing winds but in a sheltered spot, is going to be pretty darned cool.
