Description

Hybrid Ourisia between the red Chilean O. coccinea and the white New Zealand O. macrophyllum that arose in the garden at Inverewe Botanic Garden in Scotland as a perfect intermediate between the two parents.  We saw this there in 2013 and were seriously intrigued and able to acquire it from a nursery during the trip.  This is a reasonable spreader in light shade in situations that are moist.  A good woodlander.  Palm sized - as in hand, not Trachycarpus - leaves that densely cloak the ground to just several inches high with pink flowers on tall stems to 12"-18" May to July.  There are few enough Ourisia species available and to have a hybrid is just plain fun!
