Description
An awesome umbellifer, this Giant Fennel remains a humble umbel with soft, textural foliage that is content to play a strong supporting role in the garden until it is time to flower. That's when the paparazzi show up snapping photos of its flower stalk up to 14' tall here in the PNW with heads of small yellow flowers. At that point, this umbel wants to rumble since it is obvious that it is head and shoulders above the rest of the perennials. This reaches max height here in the easy-livin' PNW but the usual 7'-9' elsewhere is extremely acceptable.
