Rhoiptelea chiliantha NV 032
Horsetail Tree. Very rare monotypic genus containing just this single species in the Juglandaceae or Walnut family. Pinnate leaves on a tree 25'-60' tall with drooping many-stranded inflorescence of insignificant flowers followed by tan winged nutlets. This is a reintroduction of sorts to North America as it is known from fossil records from the Cretaceous Period. Distribution of these young plants is an important conservation strategy. Hardiness unknown.
