From a Goddard-Wynn-Jones 2002 collection on the Singalila Ridge near Darjeeling in Northern India at 2450 meters.  These are cuttings from second generation plants of this robust and fine evergreen shrub.  A strong grower with fragrant white flowers October to January which are followed by blackish fruit.  This dislikes freezing winds and is not all that keen on being frozen at all when you get right down to it but should be fine in milder gardens like Zone 8b and 9 in a sheltered and shaded to partly shaded position.  Thanks to Jim Fox for sharing this with us.
